第6届国际语言管理研讨会会议 2019年9月9日-10日 日本

6thInternational Language Management Symposium

主题:重新探索宏观和微观层面的跨文化互动管理(Re-exploring the management of intercultural interactions at the macro andmicro levels)

日期: 2019年9月9日-10日(周一和周二)

地点:日本京都立命馆大学(Ritsumeikan University, Kyoto, Japan)

Rationale

The poststructuralist perspective of languagelearning and use has allowed applied linguists to examine various aspects of communicativeacts in relation to social contexts rather than adhere to studies of linguisticstructures and mental processes. Such a perspective has generated socioculturaltheories, which enable us to apply an analytical lens to the socioculturalfactors of second language acquisition and intercultural interactions as wellas the processes in which language learners and/or users undertake activitiesembedded in social contexts. While contributing tothe investigation of individualand group behavior toward language, Language Management Theory (LMT) hasestablished its own specific position in the field of sociocultural research. Inparticular, LMT has played a crucial role in expanding the sociocultural approachesto elucidating cultural contact on the grounds that it helps us analyze the processes in which norm deviations occur in contactsituations and are followed by noting and evaluating the deviations, adjustmentplanning, and implementing plans and strategies to rectify such deviations (Jernudd& Neustupný, 1987; Neustupný, 1985, 2004). This symposium aims not to recycleand/or reproduce the previous findings of researchon contact situations but to provide new insightsinto thisresearch areaby re-exploring intercultural interactions at the macroand micro levels on the basis of LMT and other sociocultural andsociolinguistic theories. Emphasizing the view of languages as mobile resourcesin the globalized world, the symposium will focuson not only linguisticand sociocultural problems, which participants face in contact situations, butalso on how participants encounterpositive intercultural phenomena and how they appreciate them.
