Reducing inequality and alleviating poverty are two of the main and ever-lasting themes in social policy studies. With the trend of globalization and the changing political,，economic and demographic conditions in different countries, new challenges emerge in every field of social policy and call for innovative exploration by policymakers and academics. In China, poverty alleviation has been given a status of the top national strategy and tremendous efforts have been made to achieve the goal of eliminating the absolute poverty by the year of 2020.
The international conference on Poverty, Inequality and Social Policy will be organized by the School of Government and the Center for Chinese Public Administration Research (CCPAR), Sun Yat-sen University, on November 24-25, 2018 in Guangzhou, China. The conference invites papers by early-career researchers as well as established scholars working in different fields of social policy and with a focus on poverty and inequality. The conference welcomes papers concerning, among others, the following areas of social policy within the current social context:
